Tafsir al‑Jalalayn — literally "The Commentary of the Two Jalals" — is a classical Sunni Qur’anic exegesis. The work was begun by the eminent Egyptian scholar Jalāl al‑Dīn al‑Mahallī and, after his passing, completed by his student Jalāl al‑Dīn as‑Suyūṭī.

Author Description 

Jalāl al‑Dīn al‑Mahallī (1389–1459 CE) was a distinguished Egyptian scholar of Shāfiʿī jurisprudence, grammar, rhetoric and Qur’anic commentary. He initiated the work of Tafsir al‑Jalalayn.
Jalāl al‑Dīn as‑Suyūṭī (1445–1505 CE) was among the most prolific Muslim scholars of his era, associated with numerous works across Islamic knowledge. He completed Tafsir al‑Jalalayn after his teacher’s death, lending his scholarship to finalize the commentary.
